New year 2018

Every new year is an opportunity to set up a new list of goals to achieve during the year.
On my list, this year, the main one is to increase my Zbrush skills, as I bought a licence recently.
At this moment, I am focused on learning how to sculpt hard surface.
Here is a robot head I made during chrismas break :

TALK - Gnomon Workshop - Vitaly Bulgarov

Vitaly Bulgarov recently did a talk for Gnomon Workshop. He share a lot of informations about his work from VFX for film to robotics. Then, share his personal insights on self discipline, the importance of optimizing our own workflow, and how to improve as an artist in a healthy way. It worth watching it.

THU 2017

This year I was fortunate enough to attempt the convention Trojan Horse was a Unicorn.
The concept of this event is to spend one full week stuck on an island close to Lisbon, Portugal. Surrounded by 900 student and professionnal artists from the video game and VFX industries.
This is an opportunitie to meet and share with like-minded people, attempt some talk from other professionnals that will share their daily  battles necessary to always reach the next level while maintaining a healthy life.

I have always been curious about this event. So I finally decided to take some time off and bought my ticket. I attempted the event alone, without really knowing what to expect.
There I meet some good friends. Mostly from europe. I came across some twitch casters I use to listen when I am working on my personal projects (it is actually pretty funny to recognize someone with only the sound of his/her voice) and some of my "heroes" artist, like Maciej Kuciara, David Levy, Karla Ortiz, Iain Mccaig,...

I was sceptical about the statement "life-changing event". But after this week, I cannot agree more. Those days were intenses and quite emotionnal as well. Listening to others, their strugles, laughting and bonding with people sharing the same interests and goals quite change my way of thinking life, and my approch to things.

I would recommend any people having an interest to concept art to attempt this event and have their own experience (at least for the cocktail/pool parties).

See you next year, THU !
